I graduated from Brenham High School in 2002. I then attended Blinn Jr. College until 2004 when I transfered to Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After being at Texas Tech I decided to transfer the few remaining credits I needed to graduate from Blinn Jr. College back so that I could graduate in 2006 with an Associates of Science degree. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts in History degree with a minor in Education.
I have earned multiple certifications in History, Social Studies, ESL, and Reading/ELAR.
I began teaching at Hempstead Middle School in 2017 which at the time I was teaching 6th grade Reading and World Cultures. This year I will only be teaching 7th grade ELAR which I am truly excited about as love reading, writing, and learning so I look forward to learning 7th grade material alongside my students.
Prior to working for Hempstead Middle School I taught in Alief ISD, from 2009-2016, in a specialized program called SOAR (Special Opportunities for Academic Recovery) where students ages 15-26 who were behind in credits could come work at an accelerated pace to get caught up so that they could graduate. Before Alief, I worked in Spring Branch ISD at Stratford High School teaching Psychology, US History, World Geography, and Pre-AP World Geography.
I am not married, and I do not have any children. I do, however, have four dogs named: Lacy, Peaches, Grizzly, and Serena.
Exciting news this year! My service dog, Samantha (Sammi) will be joining and helping me at school this year. I am super excited and so is Sammi as she loves to learn new things and skills. I think she’ll fit right in with a school environment.
When I am not teaching I like to remodel my house, read, listen to music, play with my dogs, and cook.
