February is Black History Month. Black History Month is celebrated annually in the United States during the month of February.
The annual Hempstead FFA Project Show will be held February 27 & 28 at the Waller County Fairgrounds on FM 359 in Hempstead. The show will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27. The show order will be Broilers, Rabbits, Goats, Lambs, Swine, Heifers, and Steers.
The Project sale will be Friday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. with a Buyers Dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
National FFA Week, February 22-29, began in the week of George Washington’s birthday in 1948, in recognition of Washington’s legacy as an agriculturist and farmer. A young group of farmers founded FFA in 1928 with a mission to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population.
Each year, FFA Chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. It’s a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day.
March 2nd is Texas Independence Day. Texans celebrate the adoption of the independence declaration that gave Texans independence. The Texas Declaration was adopted on March 2, 1836.
Dr. Suess Day, also known as Read Across America Day, is held annally on March 2nd to celebrate the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, know by his pen name Dr. Suess, for the children’s books he authored.
