The theme of the ceremony centered around harvesting a new crop of Betas having the characteristics of Honesty, Achievement, Responsibility, Vision, Enthusiasm, Sincerity, and Tolerance. Riley Barber served as mistress of ceremonies for the evening while fellow Beta members participated in the induction ceremony.

Trinity Bluford, a former HMS Junior Beta member and State Poetry Champion, spoke to the new Betas about what it meant to be a Beta member and to serve their school and community. “Work in silence and let your work be your voice,” said Bluford as she encouraged the students to let their Bobcat Pride show through in everything they do.

Following the certification of the Beta inductees by HMS Assistant Principal Dr. Barbara Seals, Robert Thomas, HMS Junior Beta Sponsor, was on hand to present each new member with a certificate.

Beta promotes the ideals of character, service and leadership. Beta rewards meritorious achievement while encouraging and assisting students to continue their education after high school. The requirements for membership in Beta are such that a student must show a commendable attitude besides a great deal of accomplishment in grades.
